About Mafia Games
We are a community of online Mafia players from all over the world. We began as members of a message board known as the Straight Dope. Straight Dope member Revenant Threshold came up with the idea of running a game of forum Mafia (at that time known as Werewolf), and after a couple of games a group of us decided to move to our own forum, where we could have more flexibility with the game threads. After a disastrous attempt at using Google Groups, Idle Thoughts offered a forum that he had created, and the Idlemafia forum was born!
Online Mafia Description
Here is a description of the game that I ripped off from Wikipedia:
Mafia (also known as Werewolf or Assassin) is a party game modeling a battle between an informed minority and an uninformed majority. Players are secretly assigned roles: either "mafia" (also called Scum), who know each other; or "townspeople" (Town), who know only that there is a number of mafia amongst them. During the night phase of the game, the Mafia choose a player to kill. During the day phase, all players debate the identities of the Mafia and vote to kill the player who garners the most votes. Players are eliminated until only innocents or mafia remain; the surviving side wins. Mafia is rarely played in groups of fewer than five, and must always start with more innocents than mafia. Online Mafia is played on a message board in much the same way.
